I had posted last weeekend that the next race I would do was a 5k sponsored by OrthoCarolina... But the bike and all its appeal of such a nice ride got the best of me... As of yesterday I am officially registered for the She Tris Wilmington race in August. I have made a reservation at the hotel nearby that I normally stay at for work. I have resrved a pet friendly room to bring the little guy along. My mom will be in town by then so she is coming along then too.
So now I need to work on my swim speed. I know where did that come from? I just know that my pace is good but I want to get it a little stronger and since this race is only 200m then there are less lengths of the pool to swim and more freedom to push it. Truth be told, I think the biggest detriment to my swim speed is the run from the pool to the transition area - just saying.
And to get acclimated more with the bike. I am headed out to another (I hope) flat area near a friend's house today. She claims that all the neighborhoods that run along this flat main road are connected. So I am assuming they are flat as well. I am not yet comfortable with the normal route for this bike. PLUS that other Y Tri Ballantyne is going on today so I'd like to stay out of their way. I saw the guy painting orange arrows on the newly (yet poorly) paved road for the bike route yesterday morning. So I think this ride will be about 6 miles so I may try to do 2 loops. I need to look at it some more.
Oh and the run - yes, I need to make sure I dont forget about the run. For both races... As MGV pointed out to me yesterday - I am running more than I did before and I need to embrace that to go further. She made a valid point.
So that is now what's next...
