There is actually a RACE for Race for the Cure... It starts about 30 minutes prior to the more popular event. In previous years I found the RACE aspect to be just as crowded but I couldnt tell for sure if that was the case on this one. What I do know is that I am not a RUNNER... so why sign up for the early race with the avid runners and get in their way... So we did the latter race instead... AND that one was crowded and no real running was done... AND I am OK with that.
To be out there with all those people! Have you seen any of the pics? It is amazing how many people were out there on such a good cause. There is one section where you circle around and pass others coming at you... You think you are in the back of the pack until you realise there are still crowds on the other side of the road...
And when you think about it... OK - when I think about it - sure I know one person that has died from esophageal cancer... and since it was my Dad it is a really big deal and really impactful on my life. But think of all the people that we all know that have been effected, diagnosed and the such with breast cancer. The numbers are amazing. The awareness even more so.
So glad I could do my part and get out on a beautiful October morning, take in the sites of the city I live in... and hope to motivate others to do the same.
